As news continues to roll out regarding 2020's surprise celebrity breakup, some are looking to the past of Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler to see if the writing on the wall was much clearer in hindsight. It turns out the answer to that question is "yes," as an old video has surfaced of the couple at a meet and greet, in which insightful attendees might've picked up that all was not well in the couple's marriage.
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler were fielding questions at the opening of her Uncommon James store in Chicago in February and prompted the audience to ask a silly question Cavallari could answer. One woman piped up that she was newly engaged and soon to be married and asked Cavallari if she had any advice for her ahead of her marriage. Without missing a beat, Cavallari said the following to the soon-to-be-wed woman.

The moment got a big laugh from the room, and even Jay Cutler got a smile on his face after hearing Kristin Cavallari say that. The clip (via TMZ) ended not long after the laughter died, so it's unclear whether or not Cavallari continued on with some actual advice for the person who asked the question, or just pressed onward with the next question. One would think the former, or the moment would've gotten some more attention at the time.
Regardless of what happened, the moment was likely less of a joke to the couple than attendees thought, given what has been alleged in recent court documents. It is now known that Kristin Cavallari began searching for a home in late fall of 2019 due to marital issues with Jay Cutler, but temporarily stopped after the two vowed to try and work on their marriage.
Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari officially separated in April, though documents also say the two went about conversations to how to approach the divorce as early as March. Both those dates are later than this store opening in February, so it's unclear just how serious the couple was about ending their marriage when the video was shot. One could speculate that things were not going well though, and that this statement could've been some legit advice Kristin Cavallari was doling out as she struggled with Jay Cutler.
Hopefully that woman on the receiving end of that advice isn't panicking during the current news cycle! Of course, it's not like marital drama between Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari was unknown prior to this meet and greet, so maybe even a couple people thought about that at the time after hearing that advice.
