Touching base with former co-stars can likely be difficult for celebrities, as many of them usually have busy schedules to navigate. However, this can be even more difficult when one of your former colleagues is now royalty. That’s exactly what Suits alum Patrick J. Adams is experiencing when it comes to interacting with Meghan Markle, otherwise known as the Duchess of Sussex.
Even though Patrick J. Adams is confident he could hit up his former TV love interest at any time, he’s not quite sure how he would break the ice after everything that’s happened since they departed the show:
Just about any of us can understand how Patrick J. Adams was feeling when he spoke to Radio Times (via HuffPost). Friend or not, the mere idea of calling up a member of the Royal Family is daunting, and it would take a lot for most people to work up the nerve to do it.
Adams and Markle shared the screen together for seven seasons on Suits in which the two played colleagues-turned-spouses Mike Ross and Rachel Zane. They emerged as two of the show’s key characters and were sorely missed when both actors left the series after Season 7. Adams, however, did return in a recurring capacity for the ninth and final season.
By now, everyone is well aware that Meghan Markle has been “busy” since leaving the hit drama. She married Prince Harry, who she began dating while still working on the show, and later gave birth to a son, all while continuing her charity work. More recently, she’s stepped back from her role as a senior member of the Royal Family and is dipping her toe back into the Hollywood realm. This includes a massive deal with Netflix to develop original content for viewers of all ages. So as you can see, Markle hasn’t been twiddling her thumbs.
Her busy schedule may not allow her to keep up with her Suits family as much as she wants to but, as Patrick J. Adams mentions, she still shows love and support from afar – and it's something the stars of Suits reciprocate.
There will probably come a time when Adams does reach out to Markle. They are still friends after all. It’ll just have to happen at a time when he feels most comfortable to do so. And regardless of when they catch up, it’s sure to be an interesting conversation.
