Jason Momoa Shares All The Love After His Recent SNL Cameo

Jason Momoa as Baba Voss in See (2019)

Saturday Night Live is only a few weeks into its new season, and the show has already made efforts to bring in some notable guest stars to fill some major roles. This includes the returning Maya Rudolph, who’s playing Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris and Jim Carrey who is putting his own spin on Presidential Candidate Joe Biden. But this past week, viewers were treated to a surprise guest in the form of Jason Momoa, who appeared in pre-filmed sketch. Now, the actor has taken to social media to express his gratitude for being able to appear on the show.

Jason Momoa is no stranger to Saturday Night Live, as he’s been a fan of the show for quite some time. So he was delighted when he was given the honor of hosting the show back in 2018 to mark the release of Aquaman.

While the actor has yet to return in a hosting capacity, he was just featured in a celebrity-centric sketch, which saw Beck Bennett play a Netflix star trying to start a viral campaign. In doing so, the character called on a few fellow celebrities for support, including Jason Momoa. The actor himself would later reach out to Bennet’s character, but the exchange didn’t go quite as expected. You can check it out for yourself in Momoa’s grateful Instagram post:

That’s definitely one way to briefly pop into SNL before jumping right back out, and Jason Momoa seems more than appreciative of his insult-laced cameo. It’s honestly a bit surprising that he’s only hosted the show once. He has the comedic chops and the charisma, and I’m sure fans would love to see him at 30 Rockefeller Plaza again. But on the other hand, he is a pretty busy guy, balancing both his TV and film obligations.

If Momoa were to return to the show for the hosting gig in the near future, he would be returning to a very different atmosphere in the studio. COVID-19 has caused Saturday Night Live to make some major changes to ensure that guests are safe while enjoying the show. This includes COVID-19 testing, temperature checks and questions submitted to guests to gauge their susceptibility to the virus.

This still hasn’t stopped the show from going along, as the first two episodes of the season proved to be successful. From that Drew Barrymore sketch to Kate McKinnon’s recent break in character, the laughs have still been coming.

With any luck, Jason Momoa will get another chance to return to Saturday Night Live in some capacity. If (or when) that happens is anyone’s guess, but his love for the show paired with his talent make him almost too perfect not to make a return.
