Over the past few years, Daisy Ridley’s Rey has been one of the most well-known Force-users in the Star Wars universe. The character has proven herself a true hero on multiple occasions and, for that, she’s truly connected with fans. However, Rey isn’t the only character to make a dent in Star Wars fandom over the past several years. There’s also The Mandalorian’s small but mighty Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda), who quickly worked his way into the hearts of viewers across the world. While the character is immensely beloved, Ridley does have some hilarious thoughts regarding why she thinks the infant is “cheating” as a Force-user.
Daisy Ridley, like many of us, can’t help but analyze the being known as Baby Yoda. There’s a lot about him that makes him desirable (both to Imperials in the Star Wars universe and fans craving merchandise). However, Ridley believes Grogu has an unfair advantage that Rey does not possess:
Here’s the thing… Baby Yoda is immensely powerful but also Baby Yoda is almost cheating because he’s so sweet that whatever Baby Yoda did you’re like, ‘Aww!’ Whereas I’m a human so I don’t have that. So I feel like Baby Yoda has had an easier time being a Force healer because it’s Baby Yoda being a Force healer. We’re both good in that space but he definitely has cuteness on me.
As much as we may love Baby Yoda, Daisy Ridley did make some fair points during her recent chat with Fandom. Viewers have cut him a lot of slack due to his adorable presence and kind heart and, on top of that, he’s pretty powerful at such a young age (for his species, anyway). All in all, Grogu has quite a bit going for him that Rey didn’t when she first started out.
Daisy Ridley may have these hilarious thoughts on Baby Yoda, but she’s actually a big fan of the character. When faced with a choice of Baby Yoda or the fan-favorite Porgs, she jokingly said she’d take Grogu over the adorable bird-like creatures, even after having worked with them for months. Ridley has also been a supporter of some of the baby’s most controversial actions. This includes the time when he casually ate eggs belonging to the Frog Lady. One thing we can all agree on is that both Rey and Baby Yoda are valuable assets to the Jedi Order. The chances of them actually joining forces on screen is pretty unlikely, but we can still imagine what it would be like to see the powerful Force-users fighting for the greater good together.
