Mandy Moore has had some short-term television roles in shows like Grey's Anatomy and Entourage, but she’s been trying to break into the small screen as a leading lady for a while. Last year, she nabbed a leading role in a put-pilot at ABC called Us and Them. Although that project eventually fell through, ABC still seems keen to have Moore on board for a television show. Now, the Saved! star has a new comedy project in the works at the alphabet network.

Moore is set to star in Miss Most Likely, a comedy project about a 28-year-old runaway. According to Deadline, Miss Most Likely will follow Moore after she runs away from home and moves to the big city. In a bizarre twist, Moore’s family on the show will follow her to the big city, despite the turn of events being the opposite of what Moore’s character wants out of her life.

The project will be written and executive produced by American Dad! and The Cleveland Show’s executive producer, Richard Appel (Moore will also nab an executive producing credit). Between Appel’s success in the producing world and Mandy Moore’s seemingly universal girl-next-door appeal, ABC’s new project has a good chance of moving forward in the pick-ups game. Hopefully, it won’t eventually go the way of Us and Them, which was considered to be a potential frontrunner for a series pickup last season, before ABC ultimately let it drop. Again, ABC really seems keen to have Moore on board, so if Miss Most Likely doesn’t make it, I have the feeling we’ll be hearing her name attached to a new project in the future.
