We're only a few months away from seeing what Hayley Atwell can do with her own television series, as Marvel Studio's Agent Carter will be making its debut at mid-season. The good news, however, is that we're now only a few weeks away from a very fun preview. As we reported earlier this week, Atwell's Peggy Carter will be making a guest appearance in second season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - and, as you can see above, today we have our first look at what we can expect.
This photo comes to us from Rotten Tomatoes, and in addition to showing off Atwell back in costume, it also reveals that the actress will be joined by some legendary members of the Howling Commandos in the episode. Pictured on either side of Peggy Carter in this image are Jim Morita and Timothy 'Dum Dum' Dugan, characters played by Kenneth Choi and Neal McDonough, respectively, who made their first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances in Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger (McDonough also reprised the role in the Marvel One Shot short film Agent Carter, which was released with Blu-ray copies of Iron Man 3 last year). The still seems to confirm that Atwell's role in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be entirely in flashback form, so please put away your pet theories about time travel.
But if you think that's all we have to show you from the newest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., prepare to be blown away.
ABC has also posted a full gallery of stills from the Season 2 premiere, titled "Shadows," that gives us a good look at some of the other new characters that will be joining the series this year. For example. below we have a shot that has Season 1 characters Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and Billy Koenig (Patton Oswalt) featured in the foreground, but standing just behind them are Lucy Lawless as Isabelle Hartley and Nick Blood as S.H.I.E.L.D. recruit Lance Hunter:
The photos also give us a new look at Adrian Pasdar as Colonel Glenn Talbot, who appeared on two episodes of the first season. Here he is pictured with his wife, Carla Talbot (Raquel Gardner), and it looks like things are about to go seriously bad...
Those bad things will probably be pinned on the man seen in the photo below. That's Brian Patrick Wade playing Carl Creel, but comic book fans probably know the character better as The Absorbing Man.
In this last picture, we can see that Colonel Talbot and Creel are going to be going head-to-head in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere, which probably doesn't spell good things for the former party (Creel is an extremely powerful foe):
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is moving to 9:00 pm EST for its second season, but it will still be on Tuesday nights starting September 23rd.
