Chosen Review: Milo Ventimiglia Stars In Crackle's Thrilling New Series
Crackle will debut the first of six half-hour episodes of their new action-drama series Chosen, or "Ch:os:en" as the title card will tell you. This exciting new series is executive produced by and stars Heroes' Milo Ventimiglia as a guy who's thrust into a mysterious and violent cat and mouse assassination "game" that puts his life and the life of his family in danger.
Chosen is broken up into six half-hour episodes, which will air on Crackle, beginning tomorrow (January 17). The first episode introduces us to Milo Ventimiglia's character Ian Mitchell, an attorney, husband and father who receives a mysterious box on his doorstep, containing a gun and a photo of his mark. He has no idea who sent it or why he's being instructed to kill this person within the next three days, but his life is immediately put in jeopardy, and that's just the beginning of the story.

When I received the first season of this series to screen, I had intended to watch the first few episodes to get an idea of what the series was all about and report my thoughts based on that. But I ended up watching all six episodes because I had to know how it ended, and I wasn't disappointed. Chosen is full of suspense and action, and there's also the added mystery of trying to understand what this "game" is all about and the moral dilemma in the situation as we watch Ian attempt to survive and keep his family safe in what appears to be a decidedly kill-or-be-killed situation. The short format of the series leaves little room for filler, and each installment builds on the momentum, leading up to its conclusion. I'll say nothing on the subject of the ending, beyond my own hope that Crackle brings the series back for a second season.
Rounding out the cast are Diedrich Bader, Nicky Whelan and Brett Davern. I'm also pretty sure I spotted Spartacus' Katrina Law at some point, so needless to say, the cast is solid. The story is exciting and it's well worth checking out when Episode 1 ("The Box") arrives tomorrow.
Here's the official info released on the series.
