John Adams Premieres On HBO This Weekend

This weekend HBO will premiere the first two installments of the seven part mini-series, John Adams. Based on the Pulitzer prize-winning book about this great nation’s first vice president (and second president), the mini-series follows the life of Adams and his involvement in helping to found our country.

Paul Giamatti is playing the role of Adams and Laura Linney plays his wife of 54 years, Abigail. Initially, when I heard about this miniseries, I thought “Yawn.” A total knee-jerk reaction to flashbacks of grade school reports and multiple-choice tests on the Revolutionary war. But after viewing the promo (below), I actually think this miniseries looks really good. Also, it’s executive-produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. These two were the creative team that brought us Band of Brothers so it has that going for it as well.

Check out this promo for John Adams:

And if you’re interested in learning more about the miniseries, here’s a video that tours the amazing set they put together to make John Adams.

John Adams premieres on HBO on Sunday night (March 16) at 8:00 p.m.
