Larry David Like You've Never Seen Him In HBO's Clear History Teaser Trailer

The above video is NSFW, if W means “wondering what Larry David would look like if he had spent most of his youth hanging out in Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters.” Once you wander down that train of thought, it isn’t easy to try and wade your way back out of it. After years of watching David’s bald and anal retentive character on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, seeing him even for a few seconds as a long-haired bearded man who sings songs in his car is downright ridiculous.

That the above teaser is for an HBO film and not a feature film is pretty amazing, especially when one considers everyone else involved with it. And really, since the clip is only David driving in his car, there isn’t much else to talk about. But then, Larry David has always been a proponent for talking about nothing.

This amazing cast includes such comedic masterminds as Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Paul Scheer (Human Giant). Besides those guys, There’s Eva Mendes (Girl in Progress), Kate Hudson(Almost Famous), Michael Keaton(Batman), Amy Ryan (Win Win), Live Schreiber (Goon) and Jon Muthafuckin’ Hamm (Mad Men). Take a look at Hamm and David below, thanks to Entertainment Weekly. Oh it and it was directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad) and written by David and his usual cohorts David Mandel, Alec Berg and Jeff Schaffer.

Hamm and David

The film, which was almost entirely improvised as per David’s style, follows David as a former electric car company owner who plots revenge against the former boss who made millions from his old company. I want to see him lose his top, so to speak. If we could just get an Art Vandelay cameo.

Clear History is set to air on HBO at some time in August.
