MTV True Life Marathon Airs This Saturday

It’s pretty clear that MTV has completely given up on trying to make their reality series The Real World resemble real life as it pertains to regular people like you and me. If young people are looking for a show that portrays real issues and real people, the closest thing they’ll probably be able to find on MTV is True Life. :

True Life is a reality show that allows viewers to sample the lives of different kinds of people with each episode. Whether it’s a glimpse into the life of a gay kid in high school, a young person with an addiction, a girl from Staten Island or just about any other “type” of kid or young adult there is, each episode centers on a person with a story to tell. As the subjects of each episode get their brief two-minutes of fame, viewers have the opportunity to see things from a new perspective. Is it 100% reality? Probably not but nothing on TV is. Depending on the subject matter, the episodes generally range from pointless to interesting, exciting to sad and boring to amusing. :

MTV will be airing a brief True Life marathon tomorrow (Saturday, 9/29) from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During the marathon, MTV will air the episode titled True Life: “I Live On the Border.” This episode centers on the controversial issue of immigration as it affects the lives of three people living in a border town near Mexico. One of them is an illegal immigrant; the other two are local American citizens who are affected by the flood of illegal immigrants sneaking across the border. :
