The Mob Doctor Preview: Watch The Trailer For Fox's Intense Looking Medical Drama

It being a medical drama, we might jump to the conclusion that The Mob Doctor will be a replacement of sorts to the exiting Fox medical series House, however based on the trailer, with the exception of the fact that the series' lead character is a doctor, this show doesn't look anything like House. In fact, it's fitting that the word "mob" comes before "doctor" in the title, as the drama seems to lean heavily on the criminal and action element of the premise.

Those familiar with Jordana Spiro from My Boys maybe be more used to seeing her in a comedic setting, but there doesn't appear to be anything funny about The Mob Doctor, an upcoming Fox drama series that follows a doctor who agrees to work with the mob to help pay off her brother's debt.

The compelling new drama THE MOB DOCTOR will debut this fall. Executive-produced by Josh Berman (BONES, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) and Rob Wright (“Crossing Jordan”), the engrossing character drama stars Jordana Spiro (“My Boys”) as a brilliant, life-saving surgeon caught in a complex web between her promising medical career and her family’s debt to Chicago’s Southside mob.

The trailer gives us a look at the lead characters predicament, which may involve treating criminals, but could also force her to cross a major line…

It certainly looks like an exciting series and it should be interesting to see how Spiro handles the role. And while The Mob Doctor won't replace house, especially if there isn't a heavy focus on patient care and diagnosis (hard to tell how much we'll see of that in the series), there is a medical element that will likely appeal to those who will be missing House come next fall.
