Olbermann/Matthews Out - Gregory In On MSNBC

It’s the end of the road for Olbermann and Matthews. Fox News delightedly delivered the news for MSNBC yesterday that the two veterans would not be sitting at the helm of their election night coverage. They’ve instead been relegated to the much more important “analyst” spot. That pretty much means everyone is tired of their antics, and they are worried about having another “Dan Rather” moment on election night. Clearly, the host is the most important role – analysts can be ignored, interrupted, even silenced if they get out of hand. Yeah, I think that’s the point.

Do you know what I find ironic? That MSNBC thinks David Gregory is capable of delivering “sober and less opinion-driven assessments of the news.” When David Gregory is on NBC, I change the channel, because his pompous eye-rolling delivery irritates the hell out of me.

After a summer of complaints with the way Olbermann and Matthews deal with guests and each other, MSNBC decided it was time to pull the plug. “Olbermann’s brash style may also have earned him enemies within his own organization.” Really? You get a guy from ESPN, and you expect him to not be brash? Do you think they watched ESPN before they hired him?

Well, it doesn’t matter ‘cause I won’t be watching NBC anyway. Charlie Gibson is the guy for me.
