One Tree Hill's Bethany Joy Lenz Will Recur On Dexter In Season 8

One Tree Hill’s Bethany Joy Lenz (formerly Galeotti) hasn’t exactly been keeping super busy since her role on the CW’s prolonged series ended. While the actress has booked a guest role on Men at Work, she may have been holding out for a really good gig, which she seems to have now found on Showtime’s Dexter. No offense to Danny Masterson and the gang, but I’d be pretty stoked to appear in what is potentially the last season of a show that has aged as well as Dexter, too.

Lenz has signed on for a recurring role in Season 8 of the series, playing a woman named Cassie. According to TV Guide, Cassie is a former finance executive, which doesn’t exactly explain how she will run into Dexter and co. Apparently, however, she will do this in the most normal way possible for that series—she’ll move in next door. I’m not sure what living next door to homicidal psychopath would be like, but Dexter does his best to keep things neat and quiet, so it’s possible she won’t notice (possible but not probable).

Dexter has steadily been adding names to its Season 8 lineup in recent weeks. After Last Resort was cancelled, Dexter added actor Darri Ingolfsson for a multiple-episode gig where he will date Dexter’s neighbor and, obviously, I’m thinking there’s a connection between this casting and Lenz’s. Other actors for Season 8 include Sean Patrick Flannery and Charlotte Rampling.

New episodes of Showtime’s Dexter will begin airing on Sunday, June 30 at 9 p.m. ET.
