Most of Paul Bettany’s acting credits are big screen projects, among which is the recently released Margin Call, however it looks like the British actor may be headed to the small screen as he’s signed on to star in a Showtime drama pilot called Masters of Sex.

According to Deadline, Bettany, whom you may recognize from A Knights Tale, The Da Vinci Code and/or Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, will play the starring role in Masters of Sex. The pilot is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the couple who Taught America How to Love. The story follows Masters and Johnson, whose research is said to have kicked off the sexual revolution back in the ‘60‘s.

Going with Masters of Sex certainly cuts down on the word-usage as far as the title goes, plus it’s a bit more grabby. Bettany will play William Masters. Even if you don’t recognize his face, you may know his voice as he has played the role of Tony Stark’s faithful computer side-kick Jarvis in all of the Iron Man films, as well as the upcoming Avengers.

It'll be interesting to see who is cast as Virginia Johnson opposite Bettany, and whether this pilot ends up going to series.
