The CBS comedy pilot Bad Teacher is stocking up on familiar faces. Following the news that Roseanne's Sara Gilbert was signed on to join previously cast Ari Graynor and Ryan Hansen, comes word that Sex and the City's Kristin Davis will also play a role in the planned project, which is based on the 2011 film starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel.

Written by Hilary Winston, Bad Teacher will star Ari Graynor as Meredith, a former trophy wife who becomes a teacher in an effort to find a new man following a divorce that leaves her penniless. Graynor is playing the role Cameron Diaz played in the movie, and today Deadline reports that Kristin Davis has signed on to play the part of Meredith's nemesis, Ginny. This part was portrayed by Lucy Punch in the film. Davis' character is a history teacher, choir director and Faculty President.

I'm picturing an uptight overachiever type whose natural beauty is an added bonus and would make her major competition for Graynor's Meredith. With that in mind, Davis is a perfect choice for the role. And she's certainly no stranger to comedy, with a starring role in the Sex and the City series and films, and appearances in Seinfeld, Will & Grace and the 2009 comedy Couples Retreat among her credits. A couple years back, Davis was poised to star in her own network TV comedy, however the project didn't end up moving forward. Between the premise and the cast lined up for Bad Teacher, things are looking good for this comedy. But we'll have to wait and see if CBS finds a place for it on their 2013-2014 line-up.
