TV Recap: Big Brother 11 - Week 5 Nominations

This is one of those weird weeks in the Big Brother house because, while Chima may be in charge, we could be seeing Jeff with the upper hand this Thursday, which will essentially make Chima’s Head of Household reign completely fruitless.

Filler for tonight’s episode consisted of Jordan and Jeff having the sex talk, as it pertains to spiders. Jordan speculated that they might do it like horses… from behind. On a serious note, Chima shared the story about how she was raped by a serial killer. Granted, the producers put a commercial break between the spider conversation and that but… wow. We also got to see a mini-spat between Jessie and Natalie over Lydia. Producers got all weird with the music, making the altercation seem more dramatic than it really was. Poor Jessie is caught in a love triangle.

Later Jeremy Piven showed up to banter with the houseguests and introduce the luxury competition. On a hilarious note, Jessie seemed intent on holding Piven to his word when he mentioned seeing them on the other side. The luxury competition not only determined the haves and have-nots for the week, but it also awarded a few houseguests the chance to screen Piven’s new movie The Goods and one houseguests would be awarded a cash prize. The divided teams had to cram as many huge objects into old station wagons as possible and then cram themselves inside. In the end, half the house got to watch a movie while the other half went on slop. Meanwhile, Russell had to fake not being excited when he ended up being the houseguest to win the ten thousand dollar prize.

For Chima’s nominations, it came down to figuring out whether or not to punish Russell for the issues they’ve been having or else, keep him around in the hopes that he’d have her and the rest of her alliances’ back in the following week. At the end of the day (which was Jessie and Natalie’s favorite phrase during their argument) she decided to put Russell up next to Lydia.

Here’s the thing though. Jeff’s got the coopty-tah (as he put it) or the magic power, as the rest of the house is referring to it. While Natalie said loudly that it would be stupid for whoever had it to use it, because they’d make enemies, Jeff sees the situation a little differently… and I’m sure Natalie would too if she were the one with the power. Jeff and Russell have a semi-alliance and given the threat Jessie and Natalie pose to Jeff, I think there’s a good chance we might see him overturn Chima’s nominations on Thursday night. I really hope he uses it, not only because I sort of like Russell and I’m afraid if he doesn’t win the Veto, he’ll be going home on Thursday but also because we all know how exciting the live show will be if, when Julie offers Jeff the chance to use the power, he stands up and changes the nominations. Drama!
