Rather than letting the once hugely popular reality show, ‘The Apprentice’ completely fade away into reality-TV oblivion, NBC has decided to attempt to breath new life into the series, which involves contestants competing in the business world, by bringing in celebrity contestants for next season’s competition.
Zap2it.com reported that NBC announced today at the Television Critics Association press tour that when the series returns, the focus will be on celebrities. The network wouldn’t mention which celebrities they had in mind, nor would they give a premiere date for the new season but co-chairman of NBC, Ben Silverman did say, "I think it'd be great to have Rosie on 'The Apprentice… Donald personally told me to extend an invite to her."
What are the odds that Rosie O’Donnell will be RSVPing “yes” if she does receive an invitation to join the show next season? It’s probably not all that likely but if she does decide to sit across the boardroom table from Trump, there’s a good chance this celebrity stunt will get more people to watch the show again. Zap2it.com said last season’s ratings were about 7.5 million viewers per episode. That’s actually not bad but when you compare it to the 40.1 million viewers who tuned in for the first season’s finale, its pretty clear that if the network cant find a way to bring viewers back, the show probably wont be around much longer.
