Daniel Radcliffe Faces Fire And Snakes In Horns Trailer
At long last, Horns has a trailer, and though it doesn't give a whole lot away about the plot of the film, which is based on a novel by Joe Hill, it does look like something out of a nightmare, complete with fire, snakes and -- obviously -- horns!
Directed by Alejandre Aja, Horns stars Daniel Radcliffe as Ig Perrish, a man living in the hellish aftermath of the brutal rape and murder of his girlfriend Merrin (Juno Temple). To make matters worse, everyone thinks he did it. A year after Merrin's death, Ig wakes up hungover, discovering that he's sprouted a set of horns, which give him the ability to lure the deepest secrets and intentions from anyone he encounters. Ig eventually decides to use this ability to uncover the truth about Merrin's death.
Collider shared the above trailer, which is the first preview we've seen for the film since the clip that released last fall. As we mentioned, the trailer doesn't dig that deep into the plot, but it does offer us a vague sense of the story, including glimpses of people mourning and Radcliffe's Ig being blamed for it. There's also fire and snakes. The horns aren't actually revealed until near the very end of the trailer, when we see Ig sitting with a snake draped around his neck...
(There's also one other thing in the trailer that we noticed that book-fans may recognize. We'll discuss that semi-spoilery observation on Page 2 of this article.)
In addition to Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple, the film's cast also includes James Remar, Max Minghella and Joe Anderson. Fans of the book have been waiting quite a while for this movie to hit theaters. It finished production in 2012 and didn't make its official premiere until the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013. It'll be more than a year since then by the time the movie finally makes its theatrical debut. Horns has a UK release date of October 31, while a North American release date has not been officially announced yet.
It's possible that RADIUS is planning on revealing the official US release date news next week when Horns is featured at the Radius-TWC Preview panel at Comic-Con in San Diego. Here's hoping. In the meantime, in addition to the above trailer making the rounds, this teaser poster, which comes to us courtesy of Empire, shows Radcliffe's Ig on the cover of a newspaper under the headline "Is This The Face of The Devil"?
The words "walk," "deeper" "into," "the" and "fire" have been singled out in bold text, repeating the phrase Ig says in the trailer about how "sometimes, when you go through hell, the only way out is to walk deeper into the fire."
Moving on to the book spoiler, we grabbed a screenshot from the trailer. Check that out after the jump...
