With Sundance kicking off today the web will soon be flooded with stories of independent features seeking, scoring or missing distribution deals. So it's sort of fitting that as the film festival gets underway we've got word that recurring Sundance stars Mark & Jay Duplass have secured distribution for their recently wrapped found footage feature Peachfuzz.

Though the mumblecore-making brothers co-directed their earlier horror effort, 2008's Baghead, Peachfuzz was helmed by Patrick Brice, making his directorial debut after pulling crew on various Duplass-related productions. For their part, the brothers will serve as producers on the pic, and Mark also stars as a man who gets much more than he bargained for when he responds to a Craig's List ad. Notably, this is the second time that Duplass, who is also credited as co-writer alongside Brice, will front a film inspired by a classified ad. The other was of course the 2012 Sundance hit Safety Not Guaranteed, wherein he played a man seeking a partner to travel back in time with him.

In this new film his character's aims and arc are far less clear as plot specifics on Peachfuzz are being tightly guarded. However, since its distribution rights were acquired by Blumhouse Productions, the company behind Sinister and Paranormal Activity, it seems safe to assume this horror movie will offer some serious scares instead of a quirky romance.

Blumhouse will partner with the Duplass Bros. on the best way to market and distribute this enigmatic indie. No release date has yet been revealed. Peachfuzz is reportedly in post-production.
