First Look At Pixar's New Toy Story Short Partysaurus Rex

When the curtain closed on the Toy Story franchise at the end of Toy Story 3, it may have been the end of the ironclad friendship between Andy and all his toys, but it was clear it wasn't the end for Buzz, Woody and company. They were left in the capable hands of imaginative Bonnie, and as we've been able to see in Pixar's series of Toy Story Toons shorts, their adventures are continuing in the hands of a new owner. The newest short, called "Partysaurus Rex," will debut in front of Finding Nemo 3D in September, and now we've got our first look at the adventure Rex is in for. Take a look.

Appropriately enough for a short running before Finding Nemo, Rex's adventures are also happening underwater here, as one of the select toys brought in by Bonnie for bath time. But when Bonnie gets out of the tub, the toys are left to dry up in the bottom of the tub-- unless REx, with his stumpy little dinosaur arms, can help them out by turning the water back on. As director Mark Walsh explains to Entertainment Weekly, he uses his skills to build a new reputation for himself:

“What I was going for was, you move to a new town and make new friends, and suddenly you think you have this chance where you can reinvent yourself. love that Rex, in his sweetness, thinks he can reinvent who he is in the image of a party animal.”

You can see another image from "Partysaurus Rex" over at EW, as well as some quotes from Wallace Shawn about how he, too, has tried to stop being the nervous Nellie and become the life of the party. You can catch the short in full in front of Finding Nemo 3D, which opens in theaters September 14.
