Guardians Of The Galaxy To Feature Nova Corps?

The universe is kind of a big place, so it's understandable that it would take more than one intergalactic space police force to protect all of it. Next summer we'll get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy do their thing when their solo movie comes out, but it's now being rumored that they won't be the only squad featured in the film.

Ain't It Cool News has received a tip from a source who wants to be called The Moffballs who says that Nova and the Nova Corps will be a part of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy (adding to an EW scoop from last month). The move makes a lot of sense marketing wise, as Marvel's comics division just began a series for the character that began last month. The new version of Nova is a 15-year-old kid named Sam Alexander who learns from Guardians members Rocket Raccoon and Gamora that his father was actually a member of the Nova Corps. The site also suggests that the ships in the background of the concept art released last summer are part of that unit:

This is the second update about Guardians of the Galaxy that we've heard this week, after Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that the movie will be set 95% in space. Gunn is directing based on a script he wrote and principal photography is set to commence in a few months. Casting is still on-going, but it was recently announced that Chris Pratt will play the lead role as Star-Lord.
