Kristen Wiig Is On Board For Anchorman: The Legend Continues

It was first rumored in early December, but now it appears that the news has been made official: Kristen Wiig will be joining Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Christina Applegate in the upcoming Adam McKay directed sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues.

While they don't mention what character she will be playing, The Hollywood Reporter has gotten word that the Bridesmaids star has officially signed on to be in the comedy. When rumor of Wiig's casting first came about two months ago it was said that she could be playing the love-interest to Carell's mentally challenged weatherman character Brick Tamland (meaning there's a certain percentage chance that she will be playing a lamp).

McKay and Ferrell co-wrote the script for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which Paramount has set for December 20th of this year. Due to its quickly coming release date production should be starting very, very soon, meaning that we should be hearing more casting updates in the coming weeks.

Due to the sucess of Bridesmaids two years ago Wiig has been able to keep exceptionally busy recently. In addition to lending her voice to animated features like Despicable Me 2 and How To Train Your Dragon 2, she will also be starring alongside Ben Stiller in the remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and is currently filming The Skeleton Twins with Bill Hader.

If Wiig is playing Carrell's love interest, do you think she should be smarter than him and just love his charm or, god forbid, actually be dumber?
