O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-Ray Release Makes Second Box Set Possible![]()
When Twentieth Century Fox announced an early Coen Brothers Blu-Ray box set, I hypothesized some later Coen brothers titles would also be getting Blu-Ray releases. Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing, and Fargo are all great, but what would an early Blu-Ray box set be without a later box set featuring the likes of The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and No Country For Old Men?
I hate to say I told you so; but now, a second box set is looking more likely with the first Blu-Ray release of O Brother, Where Art Thou? on the way. Street date for the Blu-Ray will be September 13. Since O Brother, Art Thou?’s Blu-Ray will be a Disney release, the set will have some polished extras, including a behind-the-scenes featurette, two storyboard to scene comparisons, the theatrical trailer, and of course, a video for “I am a Man of Constant Sorrow.” With Fox handling early Blu-Ray titles, Disney all over this release, Universal covering The Big Lebowski Blu-Ray, and Paramount covering True Grit, it may be a while before the paper work gets figured out for full-set Blu-Ray release. At least it’s a step in the right direction. One that won’t land anyone in a poisonous snake pit. Or in a flood, surrounded by Dapper Dan pomade. |
