Rourke Keeps His Acting Chops Exercised![]()
Let the comeback continue! Mickey Rourke may have lost at the Oscars, but that doesn’t mean he’s getting out of the ring. The actor has signed on for a mysterious dramatic project which, it is rumored, will require him to do some more of that serious acting. Unfortunately the contents of the script, written by Mitch Glazer, are being kept from the press.
This is the first serious dramatic role that Rourke has signed on to do since embarking on the awards circuit for his role in The Wrestler. It's hard to predict from Glazer’s resume (which includes Scrooged and Great Expectations) which type of film this will be, but here’s hoping it is nearly as moving as The Wrestler. Sources say that producers are searching for a female counterpart to Rourke’s role, as we speak. Apparently Rourke has not been having trouble getting parts; THR reports that the Oscar nominee has signed on for at least four projects. By now, we all know he’ll play a villain in the increasingly epic sounding Iron Man 2. Rourke is also slated to act in Sylvester Stalone’s action pic The Expendables, the Indian mobster thriller Broken Horses, and the decadent Hollywood piece The Informers. Sounds a bit like he’s all over the map, but isn’t that what extraordinary comebacks are all about? |
