In a normal year, this would be a film making the rounds at film festivals, ready to contend for Oscar. Perhaps that’s just not in Serena’s cards.

Now that we are seeing a new photo for Serena, does this mean a trailer will follow? Or a release date? Or the possible hint of an awards campaign? Because right now, the film is a high-profile mystery, and we’d love to have it solved.

The movie is based on the 2008 book by Ron Rash and stars the leading actors as George and Serena Pemberton, ambitious newlyweds who move to North Carolina in 1929 in hopes of finding success. Together they open a timber business, and will do anything to make it grow. Things start to get horrible when Serena discovers that she is unable to have children of her own, and winds up taking it out on her husband's illegitimate son.

We just got finished watching them do the endless awards circuit together, but Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence already have another reunion planned. Oh wait, make that two reunions. Apparently because their chemistry together on Silver Linings Playbook was very much unforced, the two will be reuniting not only with Silver Linings director David O. Russell for an untitled thriller based on a real-life political scandal, but for a period drama called Serena

Rhys Ifans, who is set to have a great year with both The Five-Year Engagement and The Amazing Spider-Man coming out in a few months, and Toby Jones have been added to the cast of the upcoming thriller, which is being directed by Susanne Bier. The story, set in 1929 North Carolina, is about a pair of newlyweds who start up their own timber business and stop at nothing to make sure that it grows.
