Thanks to his constant chatter about both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Star Wars: Episode VII, Kevin Smith has recently been mentioned in far fewer headlines about his own films than ones concerning projects he has next-to-nothing to do with. In recent months the New Jersey-born filmmaker has been working on his horror movie Tusk, but what does he have going on in the future?
A little more than two months after Kevin Smith announced that he'd begun writing Clerks III comes word from the actor/director/podcaster that he's finished penning the first draft of the script for the anticipated followup to his Jersey-set films, which will now be known as the Clerks trilogy.
"I want to do Clerks 3 as a book first," Smith said. "I want to them in episodic chapters so that as I release it, people can read the whole thing and see what it looks like. I get to go inside the characters heads and tell year-one origin stories. The first chapter is Dante and Randall meeting in kindergarten."
In an interview with Good Day L.A., a local Los Angeles morning program, Smith opened up about his successful podcast network, his plans to do the hockey drama Hit Somebody as a mini-series, and his hope to have Clerks 3 released by 2014 Ö to neatly coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original Clerks
