Hilarious New Thor: Ragnarok Photo Confirms The Return Of A Classic Marvel Character

Filming for Thor: Ragnarok is currently underway in Austrailia. We've seen a number of our favorite actors make an appearance there, but none have made quite an entrance as this. One character, who's fate at the end of Thor The Dark World was unclear, has confirmed his appearance in the new film in just about the wildest way possible. Say hello to the new Odin.

Glen Hunt is a professional photographer in Brisbane, Australia who has been lending his talent to documenting the production of Thor: Ragnarok. Our favorite photo so far is this one, showing a very much worse for wear Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, being incredibly goofy. In addition to being a funny photo, it's also a confirmation that Odin will appear in the film, as well as the apparent confirmation of a rumor about the role that he will play. Marvel had yet to actually confirm that Hopkins would be appearing in Ragnarok so now we know for sure that he is.

Thor: The Dark World ended will Loki on the throne of Asgard, impersonating Odin. Exactly what had happened to Odin was not clear, but apparently, whatever Loki did, it did not involve killing his father, but rather, somehow taking his power and banishing dear old dad to Earth. The word going around several months ago was that when we met Odin in Thor: Ragnarok it would be as a street corner homeless man preaching that the end of the world was coming. Based on the way that we see Anthony Hopkins dressed here, that would appear to be the case. He certainly has a crazy homeless vibe going on.

Since Odin is claiming the end of the world is coming, and the film is called Thor: Ragnarok, we're going to make a leap and assume that Odin will be a key character in the plot, as he's likely not crazy and is actually afraid that the end of the world is coming. How Thor will find him is unclear, but it would seem that somehow he does. Whether finding Odin convinces him of Loki's tricks, or discovering Loki leads Thor to Odin, is still unknown. It could conceivably go either way.

While we don't know exactly what's causing the end of the world, we know that Cate Blanchett as Hela and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster are likely at the heart of it, as both will be making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in villainous roles for the film.

With confirmation that Odin will be returning, we're now only waiting to learn if the Warriors Three, or Lady Sif, will also be back. They're the last major roles in the Thor films and we've received some hints that they will be back, but also some information that it may not be the case. Maybe we'll get another candid on-set photo of them that will finally give us a definitive answer.
