The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, feels terrible about the recent press surrounding the invasion of Kate Middleton’s privacy and the subsequent appearance of naked photographs in some news outlets. The 52-year-old member of the British Royal Family feels total empathy for the Duchess of Cambridge, because once, not so long ago, she found herself in a pretty similar predicament.
Back in 1992, soon after the Duchess announced she was separating from Prince Andrew, topless photos of her sunbathing appeared in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, while she was hanging out with her new arm candy. While the arm candy may have been a significant portion of the intrigue there, it still resulted in an invasion of privacy. Fergusen recently spoke to The Daily Mail to extend her sympathies to the newer member of the Royal Family.
“I have total empathy and sympathy for her. I have been there and know what it’s like. Everyone is entitled to privacy. It is a devastating invasion of one’s personal inner space. It is deplorable, abhorrent and despicable. “
Middleton’s story is a whole lot different than Ferguson’s. The Royal Family has been a much stronger supporter of Middleton after the naked photos came up. However, since she was not having her toes sucked on by an American gentleman, it’s easy to understand why Middleton is receiving the support the Ferguson did not find after separating from her husband. Still, ‘Fergie’ seems to only have the best wishes in mind for The Duchess of Cambridge, and her condolences seem sincere.
Middleton and Prince William have spent the last few days in the Solomon Islands, continuing their tour. In the interim, the British Royal Family is taking action by filing a lawsuit against the French magazine that published the initial photographs (on the grounds of invasion of privacy).
