The seventh season of Weeds ended with a pretty major cliffhanger. Come July, we'll hopefully have the answers to the two burning questions. In the meantime, Showtime is having a little fun with us with these new teasers, which suggest there may be outside input seeping into the writers room.
We still have months to wait for Showtime’s drama series Weeds to return for its eighth season, but it’s past midnight on the East Coast, which means it’s officially 4/20. Given the cannabis connection with that date and the plot of Weeds, it’s no coincidence that a new teaser for Season 8 showed up online tonight. In fact, the video acknowledges the occasion.
While the eighth season premiere of Weeds is still months away, Showtime offered up a fun little teaser for the new season, which celebrates Nancy Botwin’s wicked ways. Check it out ahead, though rest assured there are no major spoilers unless you aren’t caught up on Season 7.
Before Dexter and Homeland return in the fall, we have Weeds and Episodes to look forward to before then. Showtime announced the premiere dates for both series today. Set your calendars for July!
Following the news that Justin Kirk was signed on to star in an NBC pilot, those of us who know and adore him for his performance as the lovable (occasionally irresponsible) Andy in Weeds were understandably concerned that he might be on his way out of the Showtime drama. Based on the latest news, the actor may not be leaving Weeds anytime soon. At the very least, he’s signed on to return for Season 8.
Kirk will play a snarky veterinarian that loves the animals, but hates the people. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing and executive producing alongside Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka. While Kevin Nealon worked out a nice little deal with NBC and Showtime to appear on both Isabel and Weeds next year, we currently do not know whether taking the lead in Animal Kingdom will have an effect on Kirk’s role as Andy on Weeds.
The upcoming eighth season of Weeds could be the end of the series according to Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins. With the plan for next season’s storyline still up in the air and several options being considered, one of them is apparently a path that will lead to the Botwins’ swan song.
In what may or may not be considered good news, depending on how you feel about the last season of Showtime’s Weeds, it looks like Nancy Botwin will live on, or the show will, anyway, as Showtime is giving the dramedy series an eighth season.
If you’ve forgotten how much there is to love about Weeds’ Nancy Botwin and The Big C’s Cathy, this new promo will serve as a great reminder. We also have some photos from the Season 7 premiere of Weeds, and for Community fans, find out what Abed has to say about The Big C when he cracks the formula for Emmy wins as they relate to comedy series.
For those of you looking for a Weeds Season 7 update. There are some casting news and plot details for the upcoming new season, which premieres next month. We also have the new promotional poster for Weeds, along with one for The Big C for you to check out.
Showtime released a teaser for Weeds Season 7. It doesn't give much away but it certainly makes me miss the mischievous Nancy Botwin. The new season premieres this June. Read no further if you’re not caught up on Season 6 and don’t want to be spoiled on last season’s finale!
At forty-six years old, Mary-Louise Parker is well on her way to becoming her generation’s Helen Mirren. How is it possible that she’s actually gotten hotter over the years?
I still miss the complete mess that was Celia Hodes on Showtime’s Weeds, however I’m happy to report that we may be seeing actress Elizabeth Perkins in another small screen role. She’s been cast to to star in the CBS pilot Vince Uncensored.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a TV series that doesn’t have him playing a deceased character shown only in flashbacks, spiritual visits or tumor-related hallucinations? In the words of any given Grey’s Anatomy character: Seriously? It appears so.
Another season of Weeds gone by and life has proven to be just as difficult and dramatic for the Newmans as it was for the Botwins. We have some clips from next Monday’s season finale!
