Amanda Peet To Star In Duplass Brothers' Pilot Togetherness

Amanda Peet has signed on for a new comedy and this time it looks as if she’ll be working with the kings of mumblecore, Jay and Mark Duplass. The two brothers have a pilot over at HBO called Togetherness, which will follow two couples living under the same roof who are trying to keep the romance alive, but who are also working towards individual achievements.

In the pilot, Peet will play Tina Morris, a woman who moves to Los Angeles and decides to board with her sister, Michelle Pierson (Melanie Lynskey) and her husband, Brett. Also moving in will be Brett’s formerly homeless buddy Alex, who will even out the girl/guy ratio in the house. According to Deadline, Peet’s character is described as both fun and smart, as well as a sharp dresser. Those are a lot of positive qualities and I suppose we’ll have to wait and see whether Togetherness airs to see if Tina has more quirks in her personality.

It was a big blow when NBC cancelled the charming comedy Bent a couple of seasons ago, but Peet landed on her feet rather quickly and has been recurring on The Good Wife through this season. While a recently teased romance seems to mean CBS’ lawyer drama would love to keep the actress around, a starring role is always better than a recurring one and I hope Peet will find a home with Togetherness. We’ll let you know whether or not this one moves forward at HBO.
