Beavis And Butt-Head Posts Decent Ratings, Good Vibes Does OK

All things considered, Beavis and Butt-Head’s grand return to television didn’t do so bad in the ratings. And while the new animated series Good Vibes didn’t do quite as well as the returning animated comedy, it brought in decent numbers for its debut episode.

You can catch some of the highlights here or watch the whole episode below. Deadline reported the ratings, stating that Beavis and Butt-Head took in 3.3 million total viewers in its premiere at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday night. Good Vibes, the new animated series that aired immediately afterward retained some of its lead-in, earning 1.6 million viewers.

Deadlines notes that it might not have been the best idea for the series to return on the same night as Game 6 of the World Series. Whether or not MTV knew that was the case when the planned the series’ return, who knows? What’s likely is that they hoped to bank on drawing in some of the numbers Jersey Shore saw in the Thursday at 10 spot. With Jersey Shore wrapping up another season last week, that left the window open for Beavis and Butt-Head and Good Vibes to take over. I’m thinking that between Game 6, and a suspicion that Beavis and Butt-Head might share an audience with FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which was also airing a new episode last night at 10 p.m., a lot of people were planning on catching up on the MTV series online or with a later airing.
