How Jim Parsons Found Out Sheldon And Amy Were Going To Big Bang

It was big news on the internet when Steve Molaro and CBS admitted that Sheldon and Amy would finally engage in coitus on The Big Bang Theory. Recently, series leads Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik revealed that it was a big deal, too. She found out before he co-star when she snuck a look at the upcoming script while shooting another episode of The Big Bang Theory. In a recent interview, Parsons revealed how Bialik then told him the scene was going down.

I was on my way to act. She had just finished her scene. She goes, ‘Did you read the episode?’ I said, ‘What, do we fuck?’ She goes, ‘Yes.’ [We were] in the middle of a taping!

News like that would throw me off, too, especially if I were an actor playing a sexually inactive character for going on nine full seasons. Honestly, most people were shocked when Molaro revealed Sheldon and Amy were getting it on before it happened, especially since the time the reveal came coincided with the Sheldon and Amy still being broken up on the show. So not only did it seem like they were preparing to have sex for the first time, it seemed like it would be a booty call.

Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Last week, after spending episode after episode apart, Sheldon finally made his big move. He interrupted her date with Dave after a Beach Boys song reminded him that he and Amy were the right fit in a lot of ways. He told her she was his “heartworm” (hilarious) and they made out for some time onscreen. While it’s a big jump from getting back together to shacking up for the first time, it’s happening and it’s happening on the night of the Star Wars premiere.

With all of the melodrama going on, Mayim Bialik also told EW in the interview that things should go back to normal after the big coitus plotline plays out.

We’re still us. I don’t think it’s going to be like, ‘Oh, Sheldon’s changed.’ It’s been so gradual, this process, that I don’t think every episode’s going to be about this anymore, you know? I think we’re going to go back to doing the show that we do here.

The special episode of The Big Bang Theory is set to air on CBS tonight at 8 p.m. ET. More detailed spoilers are in this paragraph. In the episode, Amy is expected to want to have sex for her birthday, which also happens to coincide with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere. Sheldon will then turn to his relationship guru, aka Bob Newhart, to figure out if he can has the strength to skip the Star Wars premiere to get hot and heavy with his lady. And then everything will go back to normal with the couple, although we know some of you will miss their relationship drama a teensy bit. (We said some of you!)

The Big Bang Theory airs as part of CBS’ comedy lineup. The comedy will be on winter hiatus after tonight’s episode, but you can find out when it and your other favorites will return with our midseason TV premiere schedule.
