Fans of Joe Madureira and Vigil Games' Darksiders series were disappointed when THQ first came up short in the financial department and had to file for bankruptcy back in 2012. It meant that following the release of Darksiders 2 there would be an unlikelihood that the third game would ever be released and the trilogy made complete. When Nordic Games purchased many of THQ's assets and rebranded to THQ Nordic, the company revealed that Darksiders 3 was back on the table and that gamers would finally be able to discover the fate of the other Horsemen from the perspective of Fury.

According to IGN, Darksiders 3 will release on November 27th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and it will also come with two special editions. The base game will be available for $59.99, while the Collector's Edition will cost $149.99 and the Apocalypse Edition will run you a not-so-cheap $399.99.

The $149.99 Collector's Edition will come with an 11-inch scaled figurine featuring the main character of Darksiders 3, Fury. The package comes in a premium box with a steel book, an art book, the official soundtrack for the game, and some exclusive DLC cosmetic armor sets. Supposedly, the DLC included in this pack do not affect the gameplay in any way and it's designed specifically for looks only. So long as there's no multiplayer, this shouldn't be an issue anyway, since DLC that affects the gameplay isn't supposed to be an issue for single-player games.

Beyond that, the Apocalypse Edition comes with several items that are included in the Collector's Edition, including the armor DLC, the original soundtrack, the art book, and the steel book. There's also a 30" x 40" wall scroll with a hanger, and a two-inch heavyweight amulet with a necklace. Now you're probably wondering why the $399 edition of the game costs so much? Well, it's because of the four other goodies that come with the package. There are four additional statues that come with the Apocalypse Edition, including the 11-inch Fury figurine. The other three statues include a 10-inch tall Vulgrim statue, along with two other 10-inch tall statues featuring War from the first Darksiders and Death from Darksiders 2.

This means that you'll have access to nearly the full collection of the main characters from the Darksiders series. And if things go over well enough with the release of the third game this fall, perhaps maybe we'll see some more entries in the series?

After THQ's insolvency some six years ago, and Vigil Games' dissolution a year later, many thought the Darksiders series would be on ice indefinitely, but THQ Nordic certainly thought better of the series and felt it had a place in today's current generation of gaming. Many of the former development members from Vigil formed up under Gunfire Games and began working on Darksiders 3.

A lot of the core gameplay elements were demonstrated last year during its announcement. The third-person, hack-and-slash, puzzle-platformer is set to release this November for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you're a diehard fan you'll be able to pick up one of the special editions as part of the pre-order program for the game.
