Pokemon Go Has Introduced A Never Before Seen Pokemon, And It's A Weird One

If you thought that Niantic Labs had decided to put updates and new content on the back burner for Pokemon Go all because Nintendo and the Game Freak have been focused on building out Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee, you're in for a surprise. The company has actually introduced a brand new Pokemon into the fold for gamers to capture, allowing them to further flesh out their library of pocket monsters. Only, this brand new Pokemon that gamers will be able to capture in the mobile app for smartphones is a weird one.

The Pokemon was first introduced via a tweet from the official Pokemon Twitter account. It explains that anyone who recently captured a Ditto might want to check again because it may not actually be a Ditto. In fact, the new Pokemon you picked up might actually be the brand new transforming Pokemon known as Meltan.

It truly is an odd-looking creature, with a hexagon for a head in the shape of a metal nut. It's described as a new species of Pokemon that no one has ever seen before and it's within its own category known as a Hex Nut Pokemon. It's classified rightly under the "Steel" category, given its head and liquid-metal looking body.

As described in its profile page, it's "very fluid" and can use its gelatin-like body to corrode metal and even absorb it into its own body, not unlike the T-1000 from Terminator 2.

As explained in the two-minute video attached to the tweet, Meltan is classified as a mythical Pokemon, making it a very rare breed and an even rarer capture. The interesting thing about it is that the Pokemon is actually going to appear both in Pokemon Go and in the upcoming Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee!

Given that all three games have cross-compatibility functionality, if you're able to capture the Meltan in Pokemon Go you'll be able to transfer the Pokemon over to your stash in the games on the Nintendo Switch.

The only caveat is that if you transfer your Pokemon from Pokemon Go to the games on the Nintendo Switch, you'll lose that Pokemon from your stable in Pokemon Go. So you won't be able to duplicate Pokemon that way, meaning that you're going to have to wisely choose whether or not you'll want to move the Pokemon over to one game or the other.

In this case, it will definitely make for interesting captures given that some gamers will probably want to keep Meltan in Pokemon Go, while others would probably want to see it in Let's Go Pikachu! or Let's Go Eevee!

You can attempt to catch a Meltan by catching a Ditto in Pokemon Go right now. You'll be able to see it in action on the Nintendo Switch when the two above-mentioned Pokemon games launch this November.
