Anarchy Reigns Trailer Will Make Fighting Game Fans Throw Money At Their Monitor

If you still haven't heard anything about Platinum Games' multiplayer brawler Anarchy Reigns yet, a new four-minute trailer will quickly bring you up to speed. Unfortunately, the exciting trailer is accompanied by some bad news.

While most fighting games focus on 1v1 combat, Anarchy Reigns concerns itself with larger brawls. For example, it features 4v4 Team Battles and 16-player Battle Royales. More exotic modes include a sport called Death Ball and Capture the Flag. In Survival, three players face off against waves of enemies.

You won't just use your fists to pummel opponents. You can pick up objects from the arena to bash opponents with. Weapons like missile launchers and lightning traps are available as well. The trailer even shows off a few vehicles you can commandeer.

The fast-paced, over-the-top combat might remind you of another Platinum Games release: Bayonetta. If you're a Bayonetta fan, stay tuned until the end of the trailer because it's got a neat surprise. Seems that everyone's favorite witch will be a playable character, along with MadWorld's Jack Cayman.

The bad news I mentioned is the release date. Anarchy was supposed to launch worldwide in July on the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, publisher Sega announced this weekend that only Japan will be getting the game during that month. The North American and European launch is "to be determined."
