Assassin's Creed Unity Pre-Order Details Revealed

A wise man once said, "Don't rummage through dumpsters, Pete. There's broken glass in there." Apparently not all gamers got this advice. One guy decided to dig through GameStop's trash and found some new information on Assassin's Creed Unity in the process.

The packet of pre-order information that the dumpster-diver found includes a letter from the Assassin's Creed Unity team to GameStop employees. In that letter, they outline the various incentives they're going to offer customers if they reserve a copy of Unity.

For starters, the letter re-confirms the existence of the Chemical Revolution mission. This pre-order exclusive mission seems to team up Arno with Antoine Lavoisier, popularly known as the "Father of Chemistry." The letter revealed today says that this mission will be 25 minutes long.

GameStop pre-order customers will also get access to the Razor Head Spear weapon. They say that it will "change the way you play" - which sounds about right. I mean, you can't use a Razor Head Spear in the game if you don't have one in the first place. This spear is said to be an exclusive to GameStop. Presumably other retailers have their own weapons to offer.

Ubisoft and GameStop also cooked up a way to get gamers to pre-order Assassin's Creed Unity as soon as possible. Once you reserve a copy of the game, you can start playing a Flash minigame called Guillotine Prize Drop. This slot machine allows you to unlock in-game content, merchandise and even exotic trips. The earlier you pre-order Assassin's Creed Unity, the more chances you'll have at the prizes.

Like earlier games, Assassin's Creed Unity will receive several post-launch DLC packs. The GameStop packet mentions that a Season Pass will be offered for $30. It's unclear how much content you'll be getting for that Pass right now. If past games are any indication, players can look forward to a new campaign.

In case you don't believe people who steal GameStop's garbage, note that the retailer has added all of this information to their website. The GameStop site also mentions a few additional details about these bonuses. They describe Chemical Revolution as follows: "A genius chemist, a secret formula, and a plot for revenge." The Razor Head Spear, meanwhile, is "designed to penetrate the toughest armor around."

Assassin's Creed Unity will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 28th.
