Crytek Invests In New Data Center For Modding, MMOs, CryEngine Services

With Crytek’s new free-to-play MMO, WarFace about to launch and the company continually prepping for the next phase of generational game engine development, Crytek is going to need some hefty data centers to handle the load and they seem to have found the perfect place to do so.

The Interxion Frankfurt Data Centers in Germany were chosen as Crytek’s outlet for storing data, scaling their new systems and helping CryEngine licensees manage and maintain their projects, as well as giving gamers an opportunity to make use of the new Crysis modding portal, in which the data will also be stored at the Frankfurt center.

Avni Yerli, Managing Director of Crytek commented in the press release, saying…

“Particularly for the provision of real-time content for premium online game ‘Crysis’, it is important to make sure the end user can enjoy an undisturbed, failure-free experience. Due to the high network density, Interxion’s data center campus is particularly suited to support these requirements. Its comprehensive choice of networks makes us independent from a single carrier, and we can benefit from low latencies, high service quality and bandwidth savings when compared to other locations,”

So what does this mean exactly for gamers? Well, it means there’s going to be additional ease-of-access for new and upgraded services for end-user facilities such as CryMod.com and MyCrysis.com.
