Starting April 18 the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta will commence. Gamers will be able to play-test the game in a couple of days, ahead of its launch this October on the Xbox One. However, there is a way to get into the beta for free, even if you lucked out on attempting to get in the traditional way.
Gamespot is reporting that during a live-stream, developers of Gears of War 4, The Coalition, will be handing out tons of free beta keys to Xbox One gamers. This will be for those who did not purchase and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before April 11th.
Eager gamers who want to get their hands on a free beta key will have to tune into the live-stream on April 15th hosted by The Coalition to have an opportunity to get a free key.
Essentially, anyone who purchased and played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with their Xbox Live profile will be eligible to receive a beta key and participate in the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta between April 18 and April 24. According to the article, the beta codes will be sent out on the 18th, but given the demand for access into the beta The Coalition expects that some keys may arrive a little late. At the latest keys will arrive on April 21, but those will be for people who accessed the Ultimate Edition on the twilight of April 11.
The article notes that after the closed beta ends, all Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have access from April 25 to May 1. This will be followed up with an appearance at the PAX East event in Boston, Massachusetts where Gears of War 4 will be on display for attendees.
They also note that those who participate in the beta will be eligible to receive “beta rewards”. This is because this is being labeled as a real beta and not a promotional beta. Players are expected to help report bugs and other QA-related services within the beta. As noted in a forum post by the community administrator...
As you guys know, this is a real beta and not a marketing beta for us. We need to test backend, gameplay and more within this beta. Due to this, we are planning on releasing early access codes out in waves to ensure we can have a stable backend for players during the early access period.
So yeah, this isn't just to log in and have fun,it's to actually help provide stress test data and mechanical feedback to help improve on the game before its release this October.
They don't specify exactly what the beta rewards will be for those who participate in the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta, but they do note that the rewards can be earned before the game's launch this fall.
As part of the beta program, gamers will be encouraged to offer feedback on the official Gears of War 4 feedback page. The game is expected to make a big splash at this year's upcoming E3 event in June. In the meantime, you can look to experience the beta starting April18th.
