Lego Marvel's Avengers Announces Free DLC
TT Games and Warner Bros. Entertainment have announced that Lego Marvel's Avengers for the PS3 and PS4 will be receiving a ton of free DLC packs. In fact, the packs contain lots of additional characters from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and the previously released Ant-Man movie.
IGN took note of the new DLC that will be coming to the game after it was posted up on the PlayStation blog by Traveller's Tales Games' game director, Arthur Parsons.
Parsons was truly excited about the new content coming to Lego Marvel's Avengers, exclaiming how the fun and entertainment of the Ant-Man movie would be captured in the Lego title thanks to the 11 free characters that will be added to the game starting January 26. The characters included in the Ant-Man pack are Ant-Man (obviously), Yellowjacket, Hope Van Dyne, Hank Pym, Cassie Lang, Scott Lang, Darren Cross, Luis, Hank Pym's version of Ant-Man, The Wasp and the flying ant Ant-Thony.
Parsons mentions that players will be able to fly around on Ant-Thony in both the free DLC level and in the main game. Yes, all of the DLC will be able to be used in the main Lego Marvel's Avengers game.
The Ant-Man content will be joined by the Captain America: Civil War content. There are a total of nine characters included in the pack from the upcoming movie. The characters include: Steve Rogers as Captain America, Tony Stark as Iron Man (Mark 46 armor), Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Crossbones and Agent 13.
Each of the characters will have their own special abilities and moves that can be used in the DLC level included in the pack or in the main game as well. You can also take each of the characters into the eight game worlds featured in Lego Marvel's Avengers.
It's pretty cool that gamers will be able to tag-team as Iron Man and War Machine because it's something gamers have probably wanted for a long time, and outside of Marvel Ultimate Alliance it's only ever been possible in the Capcom vs Marvel games.

Speaking of tag-teams... it's also possible to finally put Captain America and the Winter Soldier together. The duo will be able to kick butt and take names just like in the upcoming movie.
As mentioned earlier, the free content will be available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners starting January 26 at the end of this month. I do wonder how long the DLC will be available for?
For those of you who don't know, LittleBigPlanet on PlayStation devices was recently made bereft of Marvel content and downloadable add-on packs. The DLC had to be pulled from the PlayStation Store on December 31st, 2015. It basically meant that people had to rush and download the content before it was gone for good.
With TT Games and Warner Bros... it makes you question exactly how long they'll have the license for to keep pumping out Marvel stuff for the Lego games? I guess it's best to enjoy it while it lasts.
