Massive Payday 2 Update Turns The Bulldozers Into Beasts
If you already thought the Bulldozers in Payday 2 were mammoth monsters from another dimension, be prepared to gird thy loins and bunch thy Jimmies, because Overkill has recently released a massive patch for the PC version of Payday 2 that makes a number of changes, especially to how deadly the Bulldozers can be.
For those of you who don't play the game, the Bulldozer is a heavily armored special police tag team task force. They usually come in pairs of two on the harder difficulty settings and in order to defeat them you'll need to blast off their armor and get a well placed headshot or pepper them with a barrage of bullets until they stop moving. It's safe to say that they're a little more dangerous than a typical mini-boss.
So what makes them even more dangerous in the latest patch? Well, these heavily armored mofos can now use smoke grenades to gas you out or flank you like the sneaky dastards that they are. In addition to this, they can also use the IZHMA 12G Shotgun.
In addition to the Bulldozers becoming more bulldozery, other law enforcers have also received a bit of boost, being able to carry the .44 Magnum so you will have to be an awful lucky punk to want to mess with the Dirty Harry cops.
To compensate for all the extremely difficult AI adjustments, Overkill also tweaked the stealth mechanics so players will have to better judge how they use concealed weapons and take out cameras and security when the level alert hasn't gone off. In addition to this, it's no longer possible to sneak right in front of enemies looking at you, so you'll have to sneak cautiously.
To balance some of the difficulty modifications, the risk and reward factors have been heavily boosted to better give players XP and money based on the difficulty of the mission and the amount of money earned from it.
The team also modified the armor bonuses, giving players with lighter armor a larger dodge variable and quicker response timing when performing certain actions. Likewise, players decked out in tank gear will move slower while absorbing lots of damage.

In addition to all these other game balance changes, the team has also completely overhauled the entire weapon balance system, getting rid of the bar-based rating system and using numerical values instead. There are also some modifications to certain weapons, such as the submachine gun receiving a damage and recoil increase, along with a few other submachine guns and pistols. The assault rifles have had their damage base slightly decreased as well. However, for those of you who play the game, you'll know that there are modifications you can attach to a weapon to increase or decrease damage, so if you still want a beastly rifle, just keep the appropriate mods attached.
You can grab the grab the new update right now and it should automatically patch you to the latest version if you're playing on Steam. If I wasn't obligated to playing other games I would be hopping back into Payday 2 ASAP. The game really is awesome.
