Warner Bros. released another gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X today. While the trailer focuses on Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, it also confirms another classic fighter for the roster.
The third playable character confirmed in this trailer is Kenshi. First introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and has appeared in several games since then. He's a blind swordsman who relies on his mastery of the blade and telekinetic powers in battle.
Kenshi was off-handedly mentioned in an interview published last week but the interview was then immediately taken down, raising questions about whether the character would actually be part of the game's roster. It's nice to get official confirmation from Warner Bros. through this trailer.
As for Sony Blade and Johnny Cage, the two characters are still working together to save Earth. This collaboration is a bit more awkward than usual in this game, though. Since we last saw them, the two crazy kids got married and then divorced. If this trailer is any indication, they'll be doing a lot of sitcom-style bickering throughout the game.
Maybe we'll see the two get back together, if Johnny can find a way to be less of a d-bag. That might be hoping too much out of him, though. I mean, look at this guy:
The two also have an adult daughter who's part of Mortal Kombat X's roster: Cassie Cage. Cassie, introduced previously, is one of several new characters in MKX. She works in Special Forces like her mom. She brings a pair of handguns to every fight to give herself an extra edge over the competition.
Mortal Kombat X's launch is just a month away now so expect Netherrealm to keep pumping out this character trailers. Maybe the next one they'll send out will be a gameplay trailer showing off Kenshi's new movies?
