Nintendo Hosts StreetPass Weekend, Cyber Deals, Weekly Games

There’s quite a bit going on in the Nintendo camp this week, including another National StreetPass Weekend, holiday discounts and your usual helping of weekly releases on both the Wii U and 3DS.

While the most recent StreetPass weekend was only about four weeks ago (Halloween weekend), Nintendo is once again encouraging folks living in the United States to bring their favorite portable gaming console along for the ride while visiting family, gorging on Black Friday sales and the like.

The event is scheduled to run through Nov. 30, with everyone encouraged to simply keep their 3DS’ handy while out and about for the holiday. There’s also a special promotion going on at the 29,000-plus Nintendo Zone hotspots located across the country, with special Miis popping up to deliver warm greetings and help out your efforts in the various StreetPass games.

There’s also a Nintendo eShop Cyber Deal event being hosted between today, Nov. 27, and next Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 8:59 a.m. PT. During this event, you can log onto your Wii U or 3DS to save up to 30 percent on select Nintendo titles. Nintendo even released a video promoting the event.

For the 3DS, that list includes Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Wario Land 2, Wario Land 3 and Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Wii U games included in the promotion are The Wonderful 101, Wii Party U, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Wario Land 4 and Metroid Fusion.

That’s only the beginning of the savings, though, as regular weekly discounts are also being brought to various games for both consoles. You can check out the “Sale” tabs for each eShop, but discounted games include Azure Striker Gunvolt, Code of Princess and Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars, to name a few, for the 3DS, as well as Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Rock Zombies and ZaciSa’s Last Stand for the Wii U.

As for new content, both the Wii U and 3DS have a handful of fresh releases ready for your perusal. Mighty Gunvolt, a retro-themed “prequel” to Azure Striker is now available for purchase on the 3DS, originally only available if you purchased the main game during launch week.

You can also get your hands on the NES classic, Mighty Final Fight, as well as Chat-a-Lot, My First Songs and My Life on a Farm 3D.

Mighty Final Fight is also available on the Wii U Virtual Console this week, alongside the GBA game, Mario Pinball Land. Regular eShop offerings include GetClose: A game for Rivals, Heptrix, Shiny the Firefly and the unique platforming puzzle game, Thomas Was Alone.

So, there you have it. A handful of new games, a bunch of discounts and an event that encourages you to appreciate the portable nature of that tiny 3DS. Dig in, save room for dessert, and we’ll see you back here next week for a batch of fresh content from Nintendo.
