Saints Row 4's next DLC will be out before the end of the month. Enter the Dominatrix, inspired by the cancelled Saints Row: The Third expansion, provides a new system of missions that help SR4 further earn its "Mature" rating.
The add-on's origin is a bit convoluted. Dominatrix was initially planned as an SR3 expansion but then-publisher THQ felt it made more sense as a full-fledged game. The premise of Dominatrix - aliens trapping the Saints in a virtual reality simulation of Steelport - became the central plotline of Saints Row 4. The Dominatrix DLC for SR4 is an S&M-themed alternate storyline for the campaign.
"Zinyak and the legions of his alien empire trap the Saints in a virtual world run by a mad AI program known as the Dominatrix," Deep Silver says of the DLC. "In order to thwart her nefarious schemes and escape to the real world, the Saints will have to counter her army of gimps and sex-workers, shut down her demented simulation, and make unlikely allies along the way."
The development team previously revealed that the DLC would be presented as a documentary. In behind-the-scenes commentary, the game's characters explain why the content featured in the DLC didn't make it into the base game. Some "fan-favorite characters" will make a return during the add-on.
Dominatrix, launching October 22nd, is the first half of the $10 Season Pass. The second half and final mission pack for the game, How the Saints Saved Christmas, will be released later in the year. Deep Silver hasn't divulged any details about that DLC but I assume there's at least one "Ho, Ho, Ho" joke in there. Season Pass owners also get access to the Rectifier, the anal probe weapon that caused the game to be initially banned from Australia.
Deep Silver will also offer Dominatrix as a separate purchase. It'll cost $6.99 to download the DLC on its own. Presumably How the Saints Saved Christmas will be sold for a similar price when it's released.
SR4 developer Volition will be hosting a three-hour livestream playthrough of Enter the Dominatrix on October 23rd. The Twitch.tv stream will begin at 1pm Central Time.
