Way Of The Dogg Brings Snoop's Fighting Game To Xbox, PS3 And Mobile
505 Games and developer Echo Peak have partnered with rap legend Snoop Dogg to create Way of the Dogg, a rhythm-action combat game set to release on Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network and mobile platforms later this year.
I’ve got to be honest here. When I woke up this morning, the last thing I thought I would be writing about today is a Snoop Dogg-inspired fighting game. But that’s what’s so wonderful about this wacky world of video games. Pretty much any-damn-thing can happen.
According to Echo Peak Director Ciaran Walsh, the developer first met with the D Oh Double G two years ago. The idea for the game stemmed from Snoop’s love of old school Kung Fu movies and Blaxploitation films. Way of the Dogg looks to blend those elements with original music from Snoop Dogg, as well as characters and levels inspired by the songs.
“It’s the way you live, it’s the way you do what you do and captures the beat, the rhythm and the spirit of my music,” said Snoop. “It’s not just about who you are ow where you’ve been, but where you are headed to. This game shows how we evolve as individuals and they’ve incorporated the journey of my own personal reincarnation as Snoop Lion into my character, the environments and the path that players have to follow.”
No release date has been set yet, but it looks like 505 is aiming to have Way of the Dogg ready to launch alongside Snoop’s new album and film, Reincarnated. The movie hits select theaters on March 15 with the album dropping on April 23. For more information, visit the Way of the Dog official website.
