Weekly Recap: Frostbite On Wii U And 5 Other Startling News Items

April Fools' day came and went and offered up a few laughs, a few giggles, a few nods and a few tears. The salt that poured forth like a torrent from a floodgate came at the expense of the Wii U fanboys, as Electronic Arts' Frostbite Twitter account let loose the kind of news that would make most gamers cheer; exclaiming that Frostbite 3 games were coming to the Wii U and that they were actually going to fix their netcode. The last one actually got PlayStation and Xbox fanboys cheering and jeering, too, just until they all realized that it was a vile and cruel April Fools' joke.

On the other side of the fence, however, there were some pretty shocking news items, such as the revelation of a brand new sci-fi game coming for the PS4 and Xbox One, and Gaming Blend's own Ryan Winslett discussing how he uses video games to deal with certain family tragedies happening in his own life. These stories and more in this April 5th, 2014 edition of the Gaming Blend Weekly Recap.

On a lighter note, Chris Roberts reaffirmed to eager backers of Star Citizen that they would not allow big billion dollar corporations to buy them out the way Facebook did with the Oculus Rift. Of course, the week of April Fools' wouldn't be complete without a nudge about Half-Life 3 and Knights of the Old Republic.
