Blizzard has revealed that they're making some big changes to in-game purchases in their MOBA Heroes of the Storm. As a result of these changes, you might be getting a big gold refund soon.
The next major patch for Heroes of the Storm will introduce dynamic bundles. These collections of three or more items will see their price reduced if you own one or more of these items. Blizzard cautions that a couple exceptions will remain, though:
Previously, Heroes of the Storm bundle prices were static and didn't change based on what you already owned. This sometimes resulted in players essentially buying the same item twice - once by itself and once as part of a wider bundle. Blizzard plans to compensate these players by sending out gold to them in the next few days.
You'll also get gold back if you spent any on creating a named team for Team League. Blizzard has decided to remove that feature from the game altogether. They'll return once the development team finds a way to make them a "compelling feature." Either way: free gold!
If you're one of the players eligible for these refunds of gold, keep an eye on your inbox. Blizzard says they'll be sending out emails once they've distributed the gold. Be on the lookout for the usual phishers, though.
Blizzard's update to the in-game store also includes new bundles. The long-running Nexus Bundle will soon be replaced by a new Storm Bundle with the following items:
- Anub'arak
- Tyrande
- Falstad
- Storm Lord Falstad Skin
- Gazlowe
- Grimskull Nazeebo Skin
- Nazeebo
- Roller Derby Nova Skin
- Nova
- Wrath Sonya Skin
- Sonya
- Cyberwolf Mount
- Tassadar
- Rainbow Unicorn Mount
If you don't care about skins or mounts, you can opt for these two new bundles of heroes instead: Conquest Bundle

Blizzard made a ton of other Heroes of the Storm announcements this week. The studio revealed four upcoming characters for the game including Diablo 3's Monk and StarCraft 2's Medic. They also announced a Diablo 3-themed map called Infernal Shrines. None of these new additions have release dates yet but the point is, HotS players have a lot to look forward to besides a refund of gold.
