Linda Lovelace had been dead six years when talk sparked that Lindsay Lohan would star in a drama titled Inferno about the life of the notorious porn star. But as time passed, this proposed production hit one obstacle after another, while a dueling biopic called simply Lovelace gained momentum, scoring big stars like Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard and James Franco.
Through the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012, announcements came fast and furious, pronouncing Juno Temple, Adam Brody, Wes Bentley, Bobby Cannavale, and Hank Azaria had signed on. All this stoked buzz that Lovelace would not be some tawdry tale of seedy sex and debauchery. Of course, there will be some sex. After all, Lovelace's claim to fame was her skill for performing oral sex as seen in the landmark porn flick Deep Throat. And while many of the shots we've seen from the film so far have been downright wholesome, the latest photo from EW teases Lovelace's show-stopping act. Check it out below:
In the shot above, Seyfried is the foreground as Lovelace, kneeling before Adam Brody, who portrays Deep Throat co-star Harry Reems. In the background, you can spot Noth and Cannavale as the porn's financiers Anthony Romano and Butchie Peraino, flanking a barely recognizable Azaria as Deep Throat director Jerry Damiano.
Lovelace is directing duo Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's follow-up to their offbeat docudrama Howl, which centered on the obscenity trial Allen Ginsberg faced over his provocative poem. The film set in the 1970s will not only capture Lovelace's rise to fame, but also her subsequent shaming and claims that she'd been forced into porn by her abusive husband Chuck Traynor. In short, it could prove provocative on several fronts.
Lovelace will make its world premiere next week at the Sundance Film Festival.
