Batman v Superman: General Zod's Corpse May Play A Huge Role, Here's Why
For all that we know about Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice -- and we know a decent amount – there are still several mysteries and possible surprises lurking up the director’s sleeve. And that has to be the case. We still have roughly two years to endure before we’ll be able to see the finished product (OK, a year and a half thanks to the release-date shift), meaning breaking news and persistent rumors will continue to trickle out while the movie is in production.
Two juicy ones just dropped, in fact, but I’m going to protect you from yourself. Stop reading this story now if you do not want to possibly be spoiled about Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice plot developments.
Still here? OK, so, GeekTyrant is running with an unconfirmed report from "an extra who was working on the Detroit set" of Zack Snyder’s movie, who claims to have picked up some important details. This is entirely possible, if this extra worked on scenes pertaining to these two facts. For now, we are treating them as rumors… though they are fun to discuss as we wait for Batman v. Superman to arrive.
First, the extra claims that the ending to the movie already has been filmed. He said that there is a scene featuring Batman (Ben Affleck) breaking into Lexcorp to steal Kryptonite. While rooting around in Lexcorp, it is revealed that the corrupt criminal corporation (led by Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor) "had somehow gotten ahold of General Zod’s body."
And gotten ahold of some Kryptonite, as well, which will have to be explained. I guess the big question pertaining to Zod’s body possibly being in Lexcorp’s possession is why? My best guess is that Lex Luthor – in an effort to better understand the "alien" on our planet – wants to study a similar species in Zod (Michael Shannon). So Lex somehow had to get the body at the end of the confrontation in Man of Steel? That seems difficult. Impossible, even.
The extra also goes on to reveal that time frame of Batman v. Superman will connect to Man of Steel, which could drop in a mention of how Lex actually obtains General Zod’s body. The source says to GeekTyrant that this new movie begins "as the battle between Superman and General Zod ends or is ending (which would explain all the damaged buildings and vehicles we've been seeing in photos) and Batman/Bruce Wayne is attempting to make his way to the Wayne tower in Metropolis."
That could be a great way to open the movie, having Bruce Wayne (Affleck) springing into action because these titans suddenly are tearing the world apart above his head. His "introduction" to Superman could have happened in the closing moments of Man of Steel, and Snyder easily could use existing footage from his first Superman movie to kick off this next chapter in Kal-El’s life.
