Chris Evans Reacts To News That Cap 3 Will Open Opposite Batman Vs. Superman

Chris Evans may play a super-buff, cool-as-hell comic book hero on screen, but in person, he’s only human. When you tell him that there’s going to be a movie that unites superhero legends Batman and Superman for the first time, he’s going to get excited. Until, that is, he learns that this massively anticipated geek event is going to open opposite his own geek event, the as-yet-untitled Captain America 3.

That’s how it went down in the above clip, shared by Access Hollywood, when they caught up with Evans at the L.A. premiere of his latest Marvel adventure, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And it’s sweet and charming to see Evans’ pure, honest reaction to learning for the first time that he’s going to have to go up against Zach Snyder’s sure-to-be-blockbuster. "Wait a minute," Evans says. "So you’re saying we have to go against them?"

And then his verdict, which is priceless. "Well, that’s a shame." You can see the full response here, even though the entertainment site doesn’t let us fully embed the clip.

Anthony Mackie, who plays The Falcon for the first time on screen, also weighed in on the heavyweight title fight between these warring superhero franchises. "I went up against Ben Affleck before," he jokes. "I won." Watch his candid response in full:

The thing I love about Evans is that he’s a comic geek at heart. Dude already had his hand in a potentially massive superhero franchise back when he played The Human Torch in Tim Story’s Fantastic Four films. It’s like he was destined for a career in a super-suit.

And knowing that he will have seen Captain America 3 early, you just know that Evans will be in a theater somewhere on opening day, watching Batman battle Superman in the Man of Steel sequel. Which one will YOU see first? Let us know in the comments section below.
