The Dark Knight Rises' Batwing Spotted On Top Of NYC Skyscraper

The internet has made life hell for filmmakers hoping to keep their movie's surprises under wraps. Damn near everyone now has a decent digital camera on their hip, and even the best security will accidentally let the occasional determined curiosity seeker close enough to snap a few shots of actors in costume or set pieces in the making. Sometimes, however, the challenge of secrecy is more difficult than others. For example, when you've got the Batwing resting in plain sight on top of a New York City skyscraper.

That's apparently just what went down in NYC, because Movies.com has posted a spy picture of Batman's airborne ride, resting on what looks like a landing pad 40 stories up. Christopher Nolan's second Batman sequel has been filming in the Big Apple for the past week or so, and while no actors are visible in the shot, you can probably expect to see a scene set atop the building in question once The Dark Knight Rises hits screens next summer. Maybe a Bat-refueling? Maybe Bats flies Catwoman up there to fool around.

We've got a close, cropped shot of the Batwing below, and you can click over to Movies.com to see a gigantic, expandable version so you can get a full feel for the vehicle's surroundings.

Looks a lot like the Tumbler. Mr. Wayne clearly picks an aesthetic and sticks with it, doesn't he? At least it's more exciting than the shots of Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt from last week.

You'll be able to see the Batwing in action onscreen in The Dark Knight Rises next July 20th, 2012. You can read more about the project in our Blend Film Database.
